LAS VEGAS –September 15, 2021 – The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is expanding its partnership with ThriveDX (formerly HackerU) with the launch of three new career-prep bootcamps in UI/UX design, software development, and data science and analytics. These live, online training programs will help to decrease the region’s growing digital skills gap and provide accelerated learning opportunities for those looking to transition into the tech workforce.
With above-average growth trajectories, UI/UX design, software development, and data science and analytics prove to be high-demand fields in need of skilled professionals. According to InVision’s Product Design Hiring Report, UI/UX designers are the most in-demand product design job, with 81% of respondents saying they are being contacted by recruiters monthly. Additionally, by 2029, jobs for web developers are projected to grow by close to 10 percent, with the data science and analytics field showing a nearly 30 percent rise in employment through 2026.
“UNLV Continuing Education, in collaboration with ThriveDX, is excited to continue our partnership with the launch of three new online bootcamps that will help our communities in Nevada prepare for careers in high-need, well-paying tech fields,” said Joseph M. Miera, UNLV vice provost for educational outreach. “These leading-edge programs align with our mission to stimulate economic development and diversification, and to foster a climate of innovation in the communities we serve. Whether our students are looking to break into the tech field, or want to grow, or update their current skill set, these comprehensive programs can help.”
The UNLV UI/UX Design Bootcamp prepares learners with the fundamental skills and real-world experience needed to pursue a career in user experience (UX) design, user interface (UI) design, visual design, and digital design. Participants gain job-ready design skills in a project-based learning environment that exposes them to the industry’s most well-known tools, methodologies, and software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, Otter.ai, and Figma. Throughout the program, learners develop high-quality project portfolios that demonstrate their design knowledge to future employers or potential clientele and receive access to supplemental material including pre-recorded guest speakers, curated tutorials, how-to guides for software, and more.
The UNLV Software Development Bootcamp integrates real-world projects and training exercises with software engineering theory to provide practical experiences, tools, and insights into the software programming field. In addition to participating in live, online lectures, learners take part in individual and group projects, and have access to virtual labs that teach them how to create optimal user experiences through client and server-side development best practices. The program includes 100 asynchronous content hours, three experiential training exercises, and multiple test preparation sessions for renowned certifications such as AWS Certified Developer, and Microsoft Azure Engineer.
“As we continue to shift to digital as a society, it’s important that people are given the educational tools and training they need to adapt to the changes taking place in the workforce,” said Dan Vigdor, founder and executive chairman of ThriveDX. “We’re looking forward to expanding our partnership with UNLV with the launch of these programs and know that they will play a huge role in transforming lives throughout Nevada, for both the learners and the organizations that hire them.”
The UNLV Data Science & Analytics Bootcamp provides hands-on training in data storytelling, data analysis, and data science to provide the skill set companies seek in qualified data professionals. During the program, learners participate in three experiential training projects in data visualization, query, and machine learning that can be utilized when building their professional portfolios. They also have access to several sessions that prepare them for globally recognized cloud and data certifications including Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, and IBM Data Analyst Professional Certificate.
Each bootcamp is taught by industry experts who are active in their field and offers flexible weekend and evening course schedules to meet the needs of working professionals. Learners benefit from in-depth career development support, including resume-writing, interview training, LinkedIn profile optimization, and job placement assistance. Upon program completion, learners are able to earn UI/UX Design, Software Development, and Data Science & Analytics certificates through UNLV.
“It’s an honor to expand our partnership with UNLV with the launch of these cutting-edge UI/UX design, software development, and data science & analytics programs,” said Ayal Stern, CEO of ThriveDX in the United States. “Together, we’re strengthening Nevada’s digital technology ecosystem and training the next generation of digital workers with the skills they need to build a better future.”
