Students are encouraged to explore their options and find the financial assistance or loan option that best meets theirneeds.
 

Private Student Loans

  • College Ave Student Loans - Private Student loans for career training and courses. No minimum loan amount. Requires the university to assist in the application process.
  • Sallie Mae Smart Option Loan - A specific type of private loan for professional training and certificate program courses. Minimum loan amount is $1000. Requires university to assist in the application process.
  • Other private loan options - Check with your bank or credit union to see if they offer low interest private loans for education or career training. These loans are offered by private banks and lending institutions and differ from federal student loans. UNLV accepts and works with all non-federal private alternative student loan providers.
     

General financial assistance search

  • Fastweb- Search for scholarships and grants at a site developed by the same company that developed monster.com for job searches. You will want to search for non-credit and/or vocational scholarships/grants
  • Department of Justice Federal Grants - Browse a listing of various grant and loan programs
  • Nevada 211 - See if you qualify for career transition or training funds through a variety of non-profit agencies in the area
  • Sallie Mae Scholarship Search - Search for available college scholarships
     

Other financial assistance options

  • Employer Tuition Assistance - Check with your employer to see if they offer education benefits and, if so, if you are eligible.
  • Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow (FIT) - For more information about the services provided by FIT, please visit their website or call (702) 367-4348.
  • The Roots Fund - Resources and financial assistance for people of color who are actively seeking education or employment in the wine industry.
     

Workforce Development Grant 

This grant is offered through Nevada Workforce Connections and is designed for Nevada residents who are unemployed or underemployed. Only select certificate programs are eligible. Students who are interested can call Job Connect One Stop - (702) 822-4200 or the Maryland Pkwy Job Connect - (702) 486-0100 who will check to see if they are eligible.

Discounts on classes

UNLV staff and alumni are eligible for discounts on a select list of non-credit courses for professional development and personal enrichment offered by UNLV Continuing Education. For more information and how to receive these discounts, visit:

Financial Assistance Not Accepted

Due to the structure of our non-credit programs, there are some financial assistance programs that we are currently unable to accept. Examples include:

  • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
