This course is especially valuable for individuals who are preparing to start their own construction business, scale an existing operation, or transition into leadership and management roles.
What You Will Learn
Upon successful completion of the Contractor Business Training, participants will be able to:
- Explain the Nevada B-7 Restricted License, including eligibility requirements, scope of work, and regulatory limitations applicable to handyman and residential repair services.
- Identify key legal and regulatory considerations affecting the construction and home services industry, including contracts, permits, liability, and compliance requirements.
- Develop a Business Model Canvas to define value propositions, customer segments, revenue streams, and operational needs for a handyman or home services business.
- Create a comprehensive and actionable business plan that supports startup, growth, and long-term sustainability.
- Build and position a professional brand, including naming, messaging, and basic marketing strategies for independent contractors and small service businesses.
- Apply basic accounting principles to track expenses, manage cash flow, and evaluate profitability.
- Prepare financial projections that support pricing decisions, growth planning, and financial viability.
- Perform accurate estimating and bidding for residential repair and maintenance projects.
- Apply essential project management practices to plan, execute, and successfully complete handyman projects on time and within budget.
Program Details
This 10-hour, self-paced online contractor business training program consists of eight instructional modules. Each module concludes with a quiz that must be passed with a score of 5 out of 5 (100%) to advance to the next module. Unlimited quiz attempts are allowed.
After completing all modules, students must pass a 50-question cumulative final exam with a minimum score of 40 out of 50 (80%) to earn the certificate of completion.
Completion of this program satisfies the educational requirement for the Nevada B-7 Restricted Contractor license. Applicants must still meet all additional requirements set by the Nevada State Contractors Board.
